Bay (in Turkish " Turunc Koyu") is 110 km from Dalaman airport and 20 km from
Marmaris. Turunc bay is situated on the southwestern tip of Turkey at the exact
point where the Aegean and Mediterranean seas unite. Turunc has always been a
famous resort renowned for its natural splendors.
As you drive down the winding mountain road from Icmeler and experience your
first sight of Turunc it is guaranteed to take your breath away. The stunning
views of the natural harbour are enriched with the blue and green waters of the
Aegean Sea. The village of Turunc is small and scattered along the 500m sand and
shingle bay which is the proud holder of the blue ribbon award - an annual award
for the cleanest sea water and beaches in Turkey.

border the beach, however there are more bars and restaurants further back which
offer a wide range of fresh food, fish and superb views.
Turunc offers a variety of accommodations, from apartments to hotels, many with
beautiful views of the bay.
For those of you who
enjoy shopping Turunc has an excellent selection of shops, where you can be
quaranteed to find a Turkish bargain. There are also small supermarkets a
chemist and barbers shops for that traditional Turkish shave.
For a small resort Turunc has much to offer in the way of water sports including
wind surfing, water skiing, speedboat hire and scuba diving.
The scenery in and around Turunc is truly spectacular and many enjoyable hours
can be spent rambling, following costal tracks past the ancient Rhodian city of
Amos which is to the north of Turunc. On the southern side of the bay is
Kumlubuk a beautiful turquoise heaven. You can also explore the many bays and
inlets along the Bozburun peninsula. Private boats are available to hire for
fishing trips or for day cruises.
Local excursions are available which include a rush of adrenaline on a days
white water rafting, a two-day trip to Pammukkale and Ephesus. Discover scuba
diving where there is a complete beginners course and advanced divers welcome.
Experience the beautiful Turkish countryside on an outback jeep safari. Take a
boat cruise along the Daylan River that is a preserved breeding ground for
loggerhead turtles. To give you a true flavour of Turkey and its culture take
the one-day village trip. You can also enjoy a rub, scrub and massage, Turkish
style at the local Turkish bath.

Chances are you will not want to stray far from Turunc, however if you wish to
visit cosmopolitan Marmaris or the resort of Icmeler there are water taxis
available from the harbour or take the dolmus (the local bus) and enjoy the
beautiful mountain scenery.
LIMATE of Turunc is Turkish Aegean with approximately 179 sunny days a
year and a mild wintertime. The pleasant warm weather starts at the end of April
until the middle of July. The following period starting from the middle of July
until the end of August is hot, with air temperature sometimes rising to 42c!
The average yearly rainfall is 200 mm per sq.m with a high of 870 mm in January
and a low of 2 mm in July. Sea temperatures vary from 19-24 c during the summer,
yet never drops below 15 c during the cooler seasons. |
